Opal Lee’s Walk for Freedom is going national for the very first time. Only 10 cities across the entire United States were chosen to host an official Walk—Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Fort Worth, Honolulu, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Evanston, Detroit, St.Paul... and Grants Pass!

This year, our local Juneteenth Celebration is being hosted by our local Black Affinity Group, and we have the immense honor of joining a massive national movement. We are celebrating freedom and honoring the incredible Opal Lee (the "Grandmother of Juneteenth"), who turns 100 years old this year! It’s open to all.

Grants Pass Remembrance, a part of Oregon Remembrance is working towards taking Grants Pass from its one time designation as a sundown town to becoming a sunrise community, to developing a new reputation for being welcoming to all.
