Rumor has it that the new charter will eliminate the animal shelter and possibly the Humane Society.

Of course this is not true. More of John West’s misinformation about the animal shelter that has now morphed into the Humane Society.  

State statutes sets the rules about the animal shelter. Voters decide increases in maintenance costs with levies. None of this would change under the new charter. (Note: there is a separate Measure on the ballot 17-117 to improve and expand the existing animal shelter -- Vote Yes for that too!)

Also, the ordinance already in existence would not change under the new charter.  These are separate.
