Yes! You can help keep our library open by regularly contacting our county commissioners via emails and calls.
Why?
Our county charter requires commissioners to support the library; let’s hold them to that responsibility.
Writing emails to JoCo county commissioners, with a cc to the Daily Courier (to leave a traceable trail):
Keeps the library lease issue current and public.
Sheds light on the commissioners’ actions.
Demonstrates differences between what commissioners say and do.
How?
Keep the emails or calls short and concise - one issue, one contact.
State who you are and what you want in the first paragraph.
Choose 3 strong points; then give context and evidence to support them. This may include background information, statistics, relevant examples, etc.
Include personal experience when possible.
End with a strong call to action (e.g., I urge you to…)
Be polite
Ask for a response
Have someone else proofread it for you before you hit send!
