CRG: What do you believe are the most relevant issues currently facing the county
right now? What would be your six-month plan to tackle those?
James - Well, my issues are probably a little bit different than everybody else’s, because
I feel the first issue is the growth of government. Right now, the government is out of
control, including Josephine County government. And you want me to give the answer
to how I would address that?
Well, it would be the first day, basically. What I would do is I would inform, no, that’s not
the right word. I would ask or propose to the Board of County Commissioners to take a
voluntary pay cut. The county charter is designated by saying $30,000 a year, including
benefits. And because of some legal paraphernalia going on, that has been excused as
a administrative function rather than a county charter type function, which I really don’t
agree with. You know, I would run for this office without any pay. because I believe that
we need to serve the citizens of Josephine County and the residents, of course,
because not all citizens are voters.
