Our Library Still at Risk

Your support is still needed to avoid eviction! The county commissioners are once again changing what they say about when they will consider and vote on the lease agreement that the library team and Commissioner Chris Barnett negotiated. August 14, Anne Basker Auditorium, 10:00 am commissioners meeting needs your attendance!

Originally, Commissioner Barnett was scheduled to present the lease agreement draft. Based on past experience, for example, the interest-free loan to the airport presented and approved at the same time, it was expected that the commissioners would then vote on the lease agreement at this meeting. Now Commissioner Blech has stated he is “setting the expectation” that the vote will be on August 21st. Draw your own conclusions about why he is offering such mixed messages.

We supporters cannot stop flooding the commissioners with calls, emails, and weekly meeting speakers. The commissioners must be faced as often as possible with the intense community support for our libraries.

Please plan to attend the August 14 county commissioners meeting, to request a vote at that time and to show we support the library. Please keep August 21 open just in case. Keep those emails flowing, too.

Thank you for all you have done to help keep our libraries open and functioning. Your efforts are well spent and greatly appreciated.
