No CRG Recall Endorsement

Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG) will not be endorsing either side of the recall currently going on in Josephine County. At CRG’s General Meeting Sept. 6, the membership voted not to endorse, but to advocate for honest and factual information as the recall petition circulates and those targeted provide their side of the story.

CRG members, as individuals, can participate in the recall on whichever side they choose, however, as long as they don’t say they represent CRG.

How can people be neutral on an issue as members of an organization, but not be neutral as individuals? CRG is a non-partisan organization advocating for responsible and non-partisan local governance. It will have some members enthusiastic about the recall, some members who want more information about the recall and some members who don’t believe recalls are the way to solve problems in government. CRG encompasses all these views and strives to present people with the best information its researchers can provide so they can make their own decisions on measures, candidates and impending decisions by local elected leaders.

As individuals come together as CRG they may not agree on every issue, but they do agree that a community cannot thrive when elected officials are distracted by ideology, personal vendettas, or corrupting influences. Informed voters can prevent this and it is CRG’s mission to inform.
